Hi all,

Just wanna say Merry Christmas, Happy New Year 2007 and Good Bye.

I decided to quit FFXI for good, mainly because I have no interest in the game anymore. I got a nice job here in China, and it's tiring as hell so......

Good luck for everyone else and thanks for making my 3 years in this game wonderful :)

Hiya all.. long time no see..

How are you all been doing out there.. I hope everything works ok.. :)

As for me.. just been busy here and there.. not sure if I'll go back to FF (crossing fingers)..

Anyway.. if you are a Linux user, you must heard that they are releasing new kernel few days ago.. So.. I was excited too!!...

Today I finally finished downloading the new version of Ubuntu with code name Edgy Eft.. Pretty troublesome if I must say.. It didn't like my laptop.. Ferrari 4005.. Blank screen all over the place.. but the sound was running..

I managed spare my time to browse websites for the fixes.. but could not find the nice one.. however.. I found one website that gave me a clue on how to fix it...

Anyway.. If you are a Ferrari owner.. here's how you put the bad boy in the car..

1. Download the iso and burn it..
2. Boot the cd..
3. Choose the "safe graphical instalation"
4. Press F4 for VGA config.. I picked the 1024 x 1028? maybe? forgot lol..
5. Press F6 for boot options.. and ENTER
6. Edgy Eft will still boot in blank screen mode.. but..!!
7. Once you hear the opening sound.. press CTRL + ALT + F6 to switch to text mode..
8. Once you are in text mode, you have to configure your network.. start by editing your /etc/network/interface file
9. If you are on STATIC IP like me.. go to "auto eth0" line..
10. Change the word "dhcp" to "static"
11. Add the following lines..
"address (your ip address)"
"netmask (your netmask)"
"gateway (your gateway)" with out the quotes.. and fill your own numbers!!
I just deleted all other entries except the loopback interface because it kept listening for DHCP
12. Not done yet.. still have to add DNS!! type the following "sudo touch /etc/resolv.conf" and after that "sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf"
13. Add the following line(s) "nameserver (your DNS address)" once done save it..
14. Then go do "sudo /etc/init.d/networking stop" and "/etc/init.d/networking start"
15. You should be able to ping yahoo
16. Then do "sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx"
17. Wait couple mins and then edit your xorg.conf.. it's in /etc/X11 folder
18. Find the following line in "DEVICE" section.. driver "ati" and then change it to "fglrx" save it
19. Ah.. if you wanna make sure the fglrx driver is running try this "modprobe -v |grep fglrx" should be something around fglrx.ko
20. Once u know it's running.. press CTRL + ALT + F7.. should go to blank screen mode again and CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE to restart your X.. wait a while.. and walah!!

Now you can install your new Ubuntu release in your Ferrari :D

Hi to whoever read my LJ...

I　decided that I will quit the game sometime this month or next month.. Simply because I find no more intrest in this game

Ok ok I know you are wondering why?????!???????!!

As you all know.. I moved to JP time, China exactly.. I went for study Chinese after 6 years in US.. This time zone really not good for me.. Simply because I don't speak JP and whenever I logged on with JE flag.. they think I'm just a stupid gaijin who are LFGing in JP hrs.. I don't have anyone to do stuff with me at those hours..

Another reason is simply because I'm loosing more and more friend than gaining one... not to mention tarutaru DD stereotype...

LS also seems doing fine.. They killed AV today while I'm busy clubbin w/ friends... congrats to them, I'm really proud ^^ My 2 major wishes are already fulfilled..

As for this month and the coming month.. I'll just focus on my WAR while waiting my account expired...

WAR is sitting at 67 now.. pretty much hopping that it will be at least 70 or even better 73...

Thanks to all who are supporting me all these years, who are still in game, and also outside the game, JPs and NAs...

So, what's new?

WAR now is sitting at 64.. 64-69 is a very berry boring level imo ;; Why? Because at those lvls, I didn't get any new equips. On 70 tho, I'm gonna get a bunch of stuff e.g: Ridill/Joy combo, O. Hat, Alky and....... nothing. 73 gonna gonna get Adaman/Hecatomb stuff. And the only reason to get it to 75 is to do merits. I'm not even sure if I'm going to do WAR merits, coz I'm planning to Ridill/Joy and someone said that double att wont proc on mutli hits wpns.. O well, gonna figure this out later...

DRK.. love it. The moment abs-tp is out, it's much more fun to play DRK.. abs-tp got resisted sometimes.. makes me wonder should I go w/ +DRK skill equips or no.. the thing is I have +HP equips, and as soon as I swap those gears, I'll lose quite amount of good hp.. not like it maters alot but just annoy me to lose 100+ish HP on swap gears (Taru is sensitive about HP)..

Just opened 2 lv2 merits ability Diabolic Eye and Muted Soul. Diabolic Eye will cut down 15% of your max HP and boost your acc (I hope by 15% too). Muted Soul will lower your emnity by 10/(lv merit) when using souleater.. so max will be -34 for me :D

BLM went down to 74 again after our AV attempt. That made me lose 24 merits and a Thunder4. Time to get some buffer for next AV prep :)

Finally, complete set of BST AF2 including the belt

Got it from dynamis-qufim the other day :) It's nice belt for solo only. Combined with all CHR gears, I got around 24 of CHR. I hope it's pretty good to handle miss charmed in den of rancor (haven't tried it yet).

--BLM--

After done alot of thinking about what to do w/ 3 merits I had in the pool, I decided to go on Burst2 from BLM group2. Before that, I was thinking of Last resort lv4, HP lv5, or Burst2 lv1.

--WAR--

WAR hit 57 last night very fun kinda static PT :) finally can equip S.Harness now... not sure if I wanna go w/ Haubergon coz I'm too cheap for it www. Aiming 58 or even 59 by tonight!! :D

BUT......

Can a spirit link on /drg cure pet other than wyvern?? smn/drg pup/drg bst/drg.... going to dynamis as drk now so can't test it yet...

On the side note.. MNK hit 49 few days ago.. WAR still 51 but got my af feet rdy :D

A little update of everything..

MNK is sitting at lv 46 as I write this LJ..
Not to many invites with my /DRG combo haha but I'll keep on /DRG while seeking a PT.. The only time I get to /DRG is when I got someone who knows me in the same PT..

Enough about MNK, not to many interesting stories behind it..

WAR hits 51 today as we make 5/6 LS PT pretty fun.. I should get rampage at lv 53 due to my 4 axe merit just cant wait to tear things out XD

Back to fighting NM.. this time is Hydra.. pretty cool NM but very easy for HNM scale ;;

not to mention the drops are super sucks anyway.. at least it gave me a cool title "Hydra Headhunter" ;)

Hahaha been lazy as hell to update this thing XD

Other than I never attend LS events again due to my playtime and recent holiday...

YES holiday woohoo... 2 months off.. next semester will start on 9/1

SO where did I go? well I'm traveling south of China.. my routes are Beijing - Shenzhen - Hongkong - Shenzhen - Shanghai - Beijing...

Shenzhen wha? I believe many of you never hear this city in China but I went there for 2 weeks visiting my old high school friend.. The city is much modern than Beijing.. I almost couldnt believe what I saw.. Before I got there all I can think about is old rusty building worse than the one in Beijing.. or at least the same.. but no.. it was nice. Big buildings all over the downtown area.. the air is much more cleaner than Beijing.. sea side view.. you even can actually see Hongkong from the sea side :O and the subway.. MUCH more better than the one we have in Beijing.. sure Beijing subway was the first subway in China.. but this one is 100x much better ;)

Anyway it was fantastic city.. not too big but has many nice place to hang around :) Next one was Hongkong.. it was 1 hour away by train.. they called it KCR (no clue what it stands for haha) anyway we passed the border and hit on the train.. It took around 45mins from the first time we enter the train until hits the very last station TST (Tsim Sat Tsui) I believe.. then another high school friend picked us up at the station, checked us in in a hostel and take us for sightseeing.. We only spent 1.5 day there.. but we sure went to alot of places.. some of the places are star avenue just like hollywood.. many hand stamps of Chinese/HK movie stars there some of them are Jet Li and Jacky Chan :O... another one is Nu Ren Jie (Ladies market) I bought couple I LOVE HK shirts somehow it's on the top of my shopping list haha oh yea.. one note about HK it's creepy expensive somehow (compared to mainland China) I spent 600 HK dollar easilly in 1 Day just for sightseeing and stuff.. for comparation 1 bowl of noodle in China is around 5-10.. in HK is 20-30... My friend said if you ought to eat in a restaurant, you better have at least 500 HKD or else dont go.. and I was like O_O!

Last destination before going back home is Shanghai.. This place is nice for playing!! many shopping mall, bars and cafe around the town.. First place my friend took us was.. Xin Tian Di (New Heaven/Sky Earth/Land) It was beautiful.. I couldnt believe at that time that I was in China.. Shanghai is pretty much China's New York.. so everything here is modern and stuff just like in US.. When you go to Shanghai of course you have to eat Shanghai's Crab! and that was exactly what I did.. Ordered 2 Shanghai's crab for me and my friend.. believe it or not it cost 100 RMB per crab.. How big? not that big.. imagine a hand palm of a normal man.. yes that big.. it's pretty small if you ask me haha.. ah.. FYI 1 USD = 8 RMB so that was like 12.5USD... but living cost here also 1/8 from US.. so imagine spending 100$ for that crab if you are in US.. :P anyway it was nice place I definitly suggest you guys visit there if you come to China :)

In FF world.. been off from FF for slightly more than 2 weeks.. I saw the update info.. and nothing much new except new merits.. that means I have to whore my BRD again.. MNK and WAR is lv 43 now.. not sure which one I wanna lv first.. I believe it will be WAR coz I already have equips from my BST/DRK couple merited 1H axe.. not to mention Ridill/Joyuse/Ad. Hauberk..

Anyway.. that's all for now.. this update is dedicated for my loyal stalker Mr. Yakumo(san) haha.. I'm sorry to hear u quiting FF but I'm happy you are still stalking me ;)

MNK 33 now.. been using MNK/DRG after 30, got 9% haste.. works pretty well w/ PL in pt (duh?)

Got to use my Boreas Cesti.. pretty hax if you ask me.. when I was lv 30 it gives 0-2 add. effect.. 100% if tp under 100% (I think) but after 32-33 it gives 0-7 add effect.. :O

Right now taking a break coz of final exam for my Chinese class.. maybe after this week (and serveral parties) I'm going back to whore my MNK :D

So remember I said I wanna play MNK..

Well for the last couple days, I've been getting some soloable R/E item for it.

Some of them are:
Brown Belt
Boreas Cesti
Vampiric Claws

Brown Belt took me the longest camp ever.. like 5 days in a row..
Malboger 1/1
Nue 1/6
Dodo 1/4 (altho I threw 2 of his skins coz I thought I would never play MNK)

Boreas Cesti was the fastest..
Came to the camp kill 1 round of tigers and He popped.. 1/1 on the cesti :)

Vampiric Claws
0-4 with 2 SMN 2 BST... but we killed the stupid pet formor..
The next day I came solo on BST and walah

Now my MNK is lv 13.. all I have to comment is MNK too powerful XD

Been working on some merits and some HP gears equip.. So far I got:

Full merited Scythe (+16)
Lv 3 Last Resort (+6%)
Lv 1 STR (.5 Att)
Subbing War with Berserk, Warcry and Last Resort on, also eating carbo+1

Missing attack in feet slots and neck slots altho I use Rajah and Flame on fingers

For Dynamis Lord setup:

Lv 2 HP (+20)

Missing HP equips on legs(crimson, homam, dusk), neck(dunno), 1 ear(Tarutaru RSE earring +35HP), 1 finger(Bloodbead? XD), and shield (aiming for Januwiyah/+1 which is +25/+30 HP)

Finally.. after sometimes figuring how to enable 3D accelaration in FC5, I finally made it works today!!

As a note to myself

1. --Configure yum--
a. su - (go as a root)
b. cd /etc
c. mv -f yum.conf yum.conf.bak
d. wget http://www.fedorafaq.org/samples/yum.conf
e. rpm -Uvh http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm

2. --Download/install ATI driver--
a. su - (go as a root)
b. yum install kmod-fglrx (just answer y for all the questions)
c. setsebool -P allow_execmod=1 (to make sure selinux is inactive)
d. init 3 (shutdown X)
e. ati-fglrx-config-display enable (run as a root to enable the driver)

Now this is the tricky part...
f. modprobe -l |grep fglrx (make sure there's fglrx.something)
g. lsmod |grep fglrx (make sure there's an entry)
h. if not type modprobe fglrx then repeat step g
i. vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf
j. edit driver section under VideoDevice0 (or something likethat) from "vesa" to "fglrx"
k. startx or run init 5
